Slow Cooker Lasagna
Lasagna is one of my favorite meals!  So I was excited to try a Slow Cooker Lasagna Recipe!  This was not a quick dump in the slow cooker meal; there was some prep, but it was nice to be able to put it in there and do my normal day to day routine without having to worry much about dinner.  Plus, I didn’t have to warm up my whole house with the oven!
* 1 lb ground beef
* 1 lb ground Italian sausage
* garlic, diced – 2 cloves
* 1/2 onion – diced
* 2 jars Marinara sauce
* Lasagna noodles
*Ricotta Cheese (2 lb)
*1 egg
*1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
* 1 bag Mozzarella cheese
*Italian Seasoning
*Spinach (optional)
1. In a pan, add garlic onion, ground beef and Italian sausage.  Brown the meat.  Drain, the grease and return to the pan.  Add one of the jars of pasta sauce and season with Italian seasoning, salt and pepper.
2.  In a bowl combine the Ricotta cheese, egg, and Parmesan cheese.  Mix well.
3.  In a seperate bowl, dump out the second jar of pasta sauce.
4. Spray your slow cooker with non-stick spray.  Add 1-2 cup(s) of pasta sauce (not the meat sauce, but just the jar sauce).
5. Add a layer of uncooked lasagna noodles (the regular kind, not the no boil kind), add some Ricotta, and meat sauce.  The add another layer of lasagna noodles, ricotta, and then the marinara sauce (not the meat sauce!).  If you want spinach in your lasagna add it here!  I like to alternate my layers with meat sauce and marinara sauce.
6. Continue to layer your lasagna until desired.  I typically have 5 layers of noodles.  On your last layer, cover generously with marinara sauce and top with Mozzarella.
7. Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours.
Your house will smell delicious! :)
